About Me

Trail Running at Schabarum Grand Spur Trail

Hi! My name is Kendra and welcome to my blog! I’m so happy you decided to drop by! As a busy RN working through the night, running has been my source of wellness and sanity. Nursing is both rewarding and challenging and I love being able to make a difference in the lives of my patients. It is also a constant reminder of how significant a role physical exercise plays in our health.

My happy place is running through Mother Nature’s canvas. I love trails! I first discovered trail running while training for my first ultramarathon, which was Leona Divide 50k in 2015. I wasn’t fast (and still am not fast!) but I learned that running in the dirt at a pace that allowed me to savor the surrounding sights and sounds was more peaceful than constantly pushing myself on the road. As an amalgamation of running and hiking, trail running reduced any guilt feelings of slowing down to really absorb the moment.

Leona Divide lead to many different trail races, including my first 50 miler, Prairie Spirit Trail, in Kansas. However, I had to take a 3 year hiatus from ultra running to pursue another lofty goal. In December 2018, I will graduate with a master’s degree in nursing leadership and work towards my dream of running my first 100 miler. It is a leader’s responsibility and pleasure to be inspiring and motivating. Therefore, it is my sincere desire, as a future leader, to motivate my readers to embrace the trails, basking in the serenity and wellness it brings.

Take care,

Kendra
